Contrary to the Musée des Religions, which presents the world's main religions, the Musée historique des Soeurs de l'Assomption is exclusively dedicated to those nuns who were devoted to the Christ, but also to education. The Soeurs de l'Assomption de la Sainte Vierge congregation was founded in 1853, in the municipality of Saint-Grégoire, in Nicolet. Their mission was to educate young girls who were living in rural parishes. In creating a museum in their honour, we wanted to present the evolution of their religious clothes as well as collections of antique furniture, paintings and souvenirs. We also wanted to put emphasis on the missions nuns realized abroad.
