Diversity on a bronze platter
The village of Inverness, because of its water bodies, its location, its bronze and its European roots, is part of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec's association. There are about 30 of them in Quebec. Founded by Scottish immigrants in 1829, this village hasn't stopped developping since. Irish followed not long after when they also decided to immigrate from their country. They were all able to create an English culture in the village with Protestant churches, cemeteries and school. Afterwards, when the French immigrants arrived, they built Catholic churches and cemeteries and established cattle breedings. Nothing was destroyed, they were all living together. Inverness also witnessed the 70s' hippy trend. Great many city dwellers came to Inverness, hoping a return to the land. As a result, many artists decided to stay there. As for today, sculptors, painters and farmers mix together in harmony. It's this mixture of culture and architecture that give this village its charm.
