Bécancour is in the heart of Les Rives du Saint-Laurent sector. Lined by the St. Lawrence River, this city has a touch of modernity that mixes well with the natural side of the scenery. The area is sprinkled with farmers who like working the land and cultivate what others will eat. They plough theirs fields, take care of their dairy farms and of their specialized breeding. Meanwhile, the river generates another kind of income. Bécancour Waterfort Industrial Park is one of the most important of the province and its location halfway between Montréal and Québec City makes it privileged in comparison with other city ports along the river. Moreover, the region takes advantage of three hydroelectric networks run by Hydro-Québec. Two of them rank among the most important in the world. It is not because this region is strongly industrialized that one needs to leave everything else behind. Wealth, history and memories are all over the area.
