Bécancour

In Bécancour, there are enough attractions for everyone! The Moulin Michel de Gentilly, built during the New-France era, is one of the rare flour mills that kept its original vocation. You can watch the quite impressive hydraulic mechanisms mill the grains in the traditional way - that is to say with rocks - and taste the delicious buckwheat flour. Nature lovers will enjoy the parc régional de la rivière Gentilly, which offers hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking trails. It is also possible to fish in the river, and campgrounds and prospector camps are also available. Outdoor activities such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter, special activities and interpretation tours are also organised. The Site historique Omer-Thibodeau, légende d’une chute, is new in the park and will surely please you!

You will also like the Centre de la biodiversité du Québec, an interpretation center that houses exhibition rooms allowing you to explore the biological diversity of nature and Quebec’s wildlife. You will have access to an outdoor natural laboratory, hiking trails that cross 8 ecosystems, thematic gardens, an audiovisual room and a gift shop. You will also be impressed by the giant aquarium, the vivariums, the reptiles room and the orchard where you can go pick your own fruit and have a picnic. For those who like art and religious heritage, the Sainte-Angèle-de-Laval church, the Saint-Grégoire-Le-Grand church and the Précieux-Sang church, with their paintings, altars, canopies and old furniture are really worth a visit. At last, pass by the Vieux Moulin à vent de Saint-Grégoire, where you will find models and videos, and by the parc écologique Godefroy. This park proposes trails in the wood, an ice rink in winter, cross-country skiing trails and two ski resorts. A viewpoint and an observation tower will also allow you to admire the scenery of the surroundings.
