Sir Wilfrid Laurier was the first French-Canadian to be elected as Canada's Prime Minister in 1896. He lived in his house, which was across the street from is law practice, until he definitely settled down in Ottawa in 1897, because of his political duties. His Victorian-style house built in 1876 became a museum in 1928 when two businessmen from Montréal bought it. On the ground floor, visitors can see the Laurier's couple private apartments and on the first floor, political and historical exhibitions are presented.
